The route, stop by stop

Every route of the week leaves from the same quay in Tivat and comes back to it. This is where Friday goes in between.

What Friday is like

Nine hours, and the one swim at the mouth of the bay.

Friday goes furthest. It is the only route that leaves the bay behind, running right out to Rose on the last headland, where the water stops being bay and starts being sea.

The swim is there, and it is an hour. After it Katica turns back in with lunch already cooking, and the run east retraces the whole width of the bay with the afternoon behind you.

Then the island, then an hour in Perast, then the last leg home. You are back at the Pine promenade by 18:00, which makes this the day with the most water in it by some way.

Where Friday stops

Not a guidebook. Just what is there and how long there is to look at it.

A second place to board

Bijela

Wednesday and Friday call at Bijela on the way west to take guests aboard. If you are staying on that side of the bay, say so when you book.

Where the bay ends

Rose

A small place on the last headland, at the point where the bay opens into the sea. Friday swims here, and it is the only stop of the week outside the bay proper.

Gospa od Škrpjela, off Perast

Our Lady of the Rocks

The church stands on an island that nature never made. Boatmen built the ground under it by dropping stones beside a reef, season after season, until there was enough of it to build on. Forty minutes is the time it takes to walk round the outside, go in, and come back out to look down the bay before the boat leaves. Every route of the week stops here.

One street, on the water

Perast

A single row of stone houses along the waterfront, built when the town had a fleet of its own, and two islands sitting in front of it. An hour is enough to walk the length of it twice and still sit down. Wednesday and Friday stop here.
